Audit Manager
Consumer & Industrial Markets
I joined the firm after five years in industry, working as Financial
Controller for Sony Music UK for the last four years.
I wanted to work in a professional environment with like-minded people.
KPMG has given me that opportunity. The variety of assignments and clients
means that new issues always arise and I thrive on the technical challenges
and discussions with other bright people, in a changing environment.
The firm is also extremely friendly and soon after joining the Melbourne
office, I felt at home. I value that there are always opportunities
to try new things, including the possibility of working in other global
locations, in the short or long term. For example, I am currently coordinating
the Sarbanes-Oxley audit work globally for one of our key clients, which
may involve travel to the US, Europe and Asia later in the year.
Training and development is a big part of what makes KPMG a high performance
culture. I am able to learn from highly skilled individuals and receive
relevant and practical technical and skills training. I also enjoy the
mix of being able to support the development of other people and deliver
training, which is something I find rewarding. I recently ran six days
of graduate training and the in-house Train the Trainer course I attended
prior to that was excellent.
The professional environment is one of respect, which is very important
to me. Individuals’ performance is appraised regularly, so that
progression through achievement is cultivated. This system of reward
is something I believe in and the support and flexibility offered by
the firm is a real advantage of working with KPMG.
